@HTH - Very impressive! Thanks - you certainly know your movies! I've watched Midnight Run so many times and just love it... I was willing someone to get this one... And just to top it off since no one's got it yet and it's the last one in this list... #24 is from "The Commitments."

@All - Watch for Part II.

I'll pick up the slops here ...

#3 "That Ain't Right" - Silverado, delivered by Danny Glover (at least 3 times) - character was Malachi

#8 "I've got two words for you - shut the fuck up!" - massively underrated film - Midnight Run, Robert DeNiro as Jack Walsh

#10 “You’ve got two modes of expression: Silence and rage…” - also Midnight Run, this line is directed at DeNiro's character by "The Duke" played by Charles Grodin

#18 - "You're good. You're very good." - it's been used many times but for pity's sake, it's Humphrey Bogart in The Maltese Falcon - one of the best movies of all time. Sheesh.

#20 "Badges? We don' need no stinkin' badges!" - how soon they forget - this has been spoofed for three generations - from Treasure of the Sierra Madre, delivered by one of the mexican banditos to Bogie & Huston & crew.

#22 - "The horror!" - classic; Brando in Apocalypse Now!

#25 and 26 are from Get Shorty - the line about the sunsets is Dennis Farina (as Ray "Bones" Balbone), "Look at me" is the catchphrase of John Travolta (as Chili Palmer)

#33 and #34 - got to be Eddie Murphy; in Trading Places he spaces it out ... get. thefuck. out. And in Beverley Hills Cop he tells Serge (Bronson Pinchot) getthefuckout! in disbelief at how much an objet d'art sold for.

#31 - oh, please - Trading Places - Dan Ackroyd's debutante girlfriend is sitting in the scuzzy waiting room of the jailhouse and this huge, hairy, (probably) smelly, mouth-breather sits down and utters the line (she tries to ignore him, like all good WASPs would) - "Izzat you poice?"

#23 - oh, my, you get all the other Casablanca refs but not this one?

Major Strasse [to Rick]: "What is your nationality?"
Rick: "I'm a drunkard."
Louis "That makes Rick a citizen of the world"

Bring 'em on! GAhh! I can't stop!!!!!

@ BritGirl - look what you've started, i'll little else done tonight for sure.

@HTH - Doh, yes of course it's the cop not the reporter. And the first Pink Panther ?

1. Citizen Kane
2. Field of Dreams
4. One of the Dirty Harrys, slips my mind which though. The other line(s) cooler though "Now I now what you're thinking, did he fire six shots or five? In all the commotion I lost track myself. You got to ask yourself one question, do I feel lucky? Well punk, do ya?"
5. Star Wars (man, did Solo have all the best lines or what?)
7. Norman Bates, Pshycho
8. Big
10. Wizard of Oz

Sheesh, we could start a whole blog dedicated to this!

1. "Okay. So, she's a dog."

2. "You've got me! Who's got you?!"

3. "Take her out? You mean like?" (hand gestures gun to head)

4. "You're slipping red. I used to be afraid of that look."

5. "You know, for kids."

@ shuffling - I'm tempted to answer Correctamundo now, but as you say it's the start of another and it's going in the next compilation of everyone's fave quotes. So I will contain myself until then... I hope. :)
@ Tim - Correctamundo. Phew! I thought that one would go as one of the first...
@ Mike - Yep.. did you spot the others in the list from Trading Places?!
@Mosh/Mike - That one's easy ;)
The Day The Earth Stood Still. And enjoyed by young and old alike.
@HTH - Yes!! At last, someone gets the Ref!! A hilarious movie, classic Denis Leary. Thanks for the contributions, they are going on the next list.
@ All - come on people you're doing well, but there are still some easy-peasy ones left! And you have started something, as the upcoming list is going to be your own contributed movie faves and some of mine of course ;-) So get those thinking caps on.

The original list ... c'mon folks how can you not have guessed them all yet? Pretty sure I've got the unanswered ones, for instance #2 is Dennis Leary from The Ref (many other great lines in that one: "Great - I just beat up Santa Claus" "Grandma's chewing through her gag" )

Okay. Some easy ones:

1. "Rosebud!"

2. "If you build it, they will come"

3. "Lesson number one - don't think, you can only hurt the ballclub"

4. "Go ahead, make my day!"

5. "Don't get cocky, kid!"

6. "He's just a boy! Mmmmm-hmmmmm" (extra help, same character "really likes taters" and no, it's not LOTR)

7. "A boy's best friend is his mother"

8. "I want to be big!"

9. "What are you people? On Dope?!!"

10. "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain"

@ Mosh ...

You're close, very very close - #4 isn't A Shot in the Dark, but it is Peter Sellers as Clouseau - much later. And #10 is Die Hard, but the character who said it was Deputy Police Chief Dwayne T. Robinson (I love that line, nearly fell out of my seat laughing at it when I first saw Die Hard in the theatre).

@MIke - It's a sci-fi classic loved by young and old farts ;-) God thing you included "Gort!" at the front otherwise the rest of the line is also used in Army of Darkness.

#14 “Round up the usual suspects…” was Casablanca too.

#21 - Treasure of the Sierra Madre

#32 - Trading Places

#37 - A Clockwork Orange

here's a few more:

"Had my dream again where I'm making love, and the Olympic judges are watching. I'd nailed the compulsories, so this is it, the finals. I got a 9.8 from the Canadians, a perfect 10 from the Americans, and my mother, disguised as an East German judge, gave me a 5.6. Must have been the dismount."

"Clint Eastwood... I fucked 'im."

"I couldn't eat another bite."

"Wake up! Time to die!"

"Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!" (Has to be another old fart that gets this one)

“Clint Eastwood… I fucked ‘im.”

“I couldn’t eat another bite.”

“Wake up! Time to die!”

“Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!” (Has to be another old fart that gets this one)

This is addictive. (these are all as best I remember them - I have a good memory, but the odd word might be a little off)

1. [demonstrates faux karate moves] "they call that the quart-a-blood technique; you do that, a quart of blood drop out a man's body."

2. "Lewis, we've had presidents who were beloved, who couldn't find a coherent sentence with two hands and a flashlight. People don't drink the sand because they're thirsty. They drink the sand because they don't know the difference. "

3. "You're the duke! You're the duke! ... but you ain't number one." (at least that's how I always heard the line)

4. "Come with me if you want to live!"

5. "Looks like I picked the wrong week to give up huffing glue..."

6. "And in walked the biggest Mexican I ever seen"

7. "Mongo LIKE sheriff Bart!"

8. "C'mon home Roger, and I'll bake you a carrot cake" (you probably don't need a clue, but I'll give one - its animated, and sneaky-dirty to boot!)

9. "I don't roll on Shabbas!"

10. "You know what the problem with real life is? No danger music ..."

@britgirl - hints, "No. I Spuerman" is in your original list too. And "He's doing the Superman Thing" is from a modern trilogy.

A similar movie trivia with tweaked stills here http://mosh.daria.be/files/2006/10/identifythesemovies.pdf

Enjoy.

Okay, I'll wade in ... #1 is from one of my favourite movies of all time, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure ... PW is riding his bike along and showing off in front of some kids when he hits the curb, does and double summersault over the handlebars, onto the grass and luckily pops up right in front of the kids; thinking quickly he brushes himself off and utters the line.

Here's a few off the top of my head

1. "Face it, Flounder, you fucked up - you trusted us!"

2. "That's MY hair pie!"

3. "Never go up against a Sicilian when death is on the line."

4. "Does your dog bite?"
... grrrrr - chomp!
"I thought you said your dog doesn't bite!"
"That is not my dog."

5. "That's a big chicken!" (maybe a little tough, but it always cracks me up, but a clue would be it's the same actor as #6 ... )

6. "Wheat. Great. I'm dead and all she can talk about is grain."

7. [blind character with cockney accent:] "You don't 'ave to shout, I have acute 'earing." "I'm not interested in your jewelry, cloth-eyes!"

8. "Mister President, we cannot afford to have a mine-shaft gap!"

9. "I say you ARE the Messiah, and I should know, I've followed a few!"

10. "Gee, I think we're gonna need some more FBI guys ..."

Fire away

(oh - #11 is Bacall and Bogie in To Have And Have Not)

Yes... it's Lauren Bacall. Keep trying. You are very close. Oh, and by the way I've corrected my comment above... the movie hasn't already been mentioned, and I've made a slight change to one word.
