Care To Comment?

by Britgirl on February 13, 2007

We get some great comments on Like It is and thanks to you they’ve been steadily increasing. I’m always looking for ways to ensure you can quickly find the latest comments and articles, see who’s said what and when and add your voice.

One thing I know is at a premium is your time, and it’s worth saying again how much I appreciate you stopping by leaving your comments (and even just stopping by and reading!). That’s what makes the conversations here pretty darn good.

I’ve added a couple of goodies to my sidebar and wanted to let you know about them. (And at last I can cross them off my To Do list, yay!)

The first is called Show Top Commentators, and what this does is show who’s the top commentator within a set period of time. At the moment I have it so that it resets monthly, but will be experimenting a bit with other frequencies, such as a week or a day. I hoping Show Top Commentators will encourage even more great reader feedback and discussion. It will display your name linked to your blog or website if you have one, and it will add how many comments you’ve made to the sidebar. Neat! And I’ve disallowed my name, so my comments will not count . Have to say I was so thrilled to find this tool. Thanks to John Chow for writing about it and for helping me in getting it installed. And to Nate Sanden for developing it, of course.

My sidebar now also shows, in addition to Recent posts, recently commented posts. So you can now see all recently commented posts and check them out to see what people are saying. Courtesy of Denis De Bernardy. And to Wordpress who inspires the development of such cool tools.

I’ll be adding a couple of other “widgets” as I get to them….

Don’t forget you can always check out my Archives for past articles, or any category you’re interested in.

Enjoy!

@ joy – thanks! :) And you have given me an idea for another post… well, it’s half written, but perhaps I should post it… :)

I really admire your efforts to use all the latest Wordpress inspired “widgets’.

This will sure make a difference! I can barely get up the energy to upgrade to the next version myself :-) . Mind you, my comments are not steadily increasing (just steady), my friends read it and then tell me — in person, no less! what they think. I’m thinking I may add my blog url in my comments but I’m waiting until I post something very intelligent and not my usual thought son home decor shows and the people I see on the streetcar. :-)

So now we all have italic comments. :) Makes everything pretty.

@Britgirl: Can’t wait to see it.

i know i comment a lot, i have posted on other blogs, forums, and because i try to make equality my key, i get punished, and bullied sometimes.

i have several blogs i visit, and this is the first i visit every day, intelligent, smart, (not usually the same thing), and good posts that you do.

(but 18 comments dear god i feel bad now well slightly)
