Paris Hilton 45 Days Prison Time…And Counting

9 05 2007

Paris Hilton. It’s only 45 days. Shame.

When I saw the news that Paris Hilton had been ordered to report to a county jail by June 5th to serve a 45 day sentence for driving with a suspended license, I thought “Great!” It’s about time stupid fuckwit celebrities who drink and drive and fall foul of the law get exactly what law-breakers get – jail time instead of a slap on the wrist and a fine.

Before they head off to re-offend.

Granted, it’s only 45 days, but one hopes it will suffice to teach Ms Hilton something of a lesson.

Now, what do we see? The heiress (with clearly more money than sense, what a surprise) is calling on her fans to sign a petition to “pardon her mistake, because she provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives.”

Yeah. Right. She must be even more seriously deluded than even I had thought. What a great example she is to her fans. Not.

Rich, spoiled, immature, empty-headed little socialite who thinks she is above the law. Definitely not the brightest bulb in the box, Hilton feels she is being made an example “that Drunk Driving is wrong…” And she feels that she should be given a “get out of jail free” card, because she’s an heiress and a celebrity. It must be the silliest thing I’ve heard in a long time.

News flash, Paris. Driving with a suspended licence is breaking the law. Driving drunk with a suspended licence is breaking the law. Violating the terms of your probation – duh – wasn’t a good move. And it was breaking the law.

And I don’t think Arnie’s going to help you either.

Interestingly, her”keep me out of jail” petition on MySpace has given rise to several countervailing petitions – insisting that Paris Hilton go to jail – for life. Where do I sign?!

I hope Ms Hilton uses her time in jail to do a little reflection. And she can consider the undeniable fact she’s now a felon. A very rich felon, but a felon just the same. 45 days isn’t enough. It should be 90. Of course, if she fails to report, it will be 90.

Yay!

My public need me, says Paris Hilton

I signed a petition at this address: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/jailparishilton/?e. My signature is number 27672, and this is what I said:

Paris, YOU are NOT above the LAW!! Everyone else has to pay the price and/or serve time when they break the law. A celebrity is just another fellow human being who just happens to be in a spotlight. YOU are just another one of us, and YOU are NOT more privileged than any other American. Wake up and use that excuse-for-a-brain.

What a spoiled little brat!

My favourite gossip blog, http://www.laineygossip.com/ArticleList.aspx, refers to Paris as Hollywood Ebola.

She is an entitled, talentless piece of shite and I think there are a lot of us who wish it were 450.

Chris and all - there are over 42,000 signatures on that send ph to jail petition. Most want her there for a lot longer than 45 days too. 450 sounds really good. nice round number. In fact if we just double it, 900 is an even nicer.

Some would prefer they throw away the key. The only thing worse than her not going to jail of course is the stupid reality show that’s sure to follow. Ugh!

I can’t believe she has the nerve to pull that off.. She just doesn’t get it, she lives in a different world than the rest of us :)

You know… she annoys me, she exploits her celebrity — strangely created as it has been (she got famous on a sex tape, for god’s sake) — and she broke the law. I’m certain she should pay for it. And I’m certain it would be nice if the rest of us would all get a break from her for awhile. She should also be off the road if she doesn’t understand the true risks of drinking and driving.

What I’m not certain of, from a strictly legal perspective, whether 45 days in jail — regardless of who she is — has legal precedent. In the US, is that would anybody else who broke probation in the same way would serve? I simply don’t know the answer. If yes, then she should serve it. If not, then — hate her or not — the punishment should be re-evaluated.

A # day jail sentence is indeed a normal ramification in most states. She didn’t just violoate probation by driving on a suspended DL, she did it twice.

If I was caught drunk driving on two seperate occasions, had my DL revoked, and twice drove again, I surely would expect more than a ticket. Not to mention that, though I do not know how she was caught breaking probation the first time, she was caught the second time because she was doing 70 in a 45. In a few states that’s reason enough to spend a few nights in jail.

It kind of bothers me in that I think Paris is a beautiful woman in the media. Though I think it revolves around her being a part of he official class of “beautiful people” who belong in pictures and posters to hang on a wall. Obviously the extent of her talents beyond being plastered in makeup for the media don’t extend much beyond the two or three (maybe four at this point?) famous videos of her and her partners.

Britgirl (19:24:23) :

Sean, well beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say. Personally I don’t think she’s bad looking, apart the wonky eye that apparently no-ne can fix…. and I hear she has had a lot of work done on her face but when she was younger. As for talent.. well she became famous from (or for) a few tasteless videos, as you noted and not a lot else, unless you count the fact that she’s heir to the Hilton millions, which she did nothing to earn any way.

Beautiful or ugly…the key thing though is that she broke the law - twice just the latest in a long line of celebrity idiots that seem to think they are above the law. A few days in the slammer might give her some time to reflect.

I guess if one can consider a soul-less being maintained by redbull, cocaine, and a cadre of hairdressers, makeup artists and plastic surgons “beautiful” then Paris Hilton is it. She certianly has nice skin.

Beyond that, I am guessing Paris has more than enough money to hire someone to schelp her drunk, unlicensed ass from point a to point b, and seriously has NO EXCUSE WHATSOEVER for driving drunk, high, unlicensed or “exhausted”. Hell, she could probably buy a heliocopter that could airlift her vehicle to whatever location she plans on passing out at if she’s really so hell bent on driving herself around in the first place.

Tonny(crazy of Paris Hilton) (01:52:31) :

Paris Hilton will not appeal against the judge’s decision to send her back to jail for the remainder of her 45 day sentence.

In a statement issued through her legal team yesterday, Paris said: “Today I told my attorneys not to appeal the judge’s decision. While I greatly appreciate the Sheriff’s concern for my health and welfare, after meeting with doctors I intend to serve my time as ordered by the judge.”
