That mom should have been applauded for doing something so many mommies don't do these days- Parenting! A verbal reprimand and sitting in the car alone to cool off (unless its hot) is a great idea! And, 3 feet, in my opinion is the perfect amount of space as she can see you and knows that she is safe but also knows that you are too far away for her tantrum to be heard... Good for mommy! And of course Ruth says she was only 3 feet away - see above jibe about Gerry. At the end of the day responsible parents know how and when, for the most part, to discipline their child.
