She Might Kill The Kids - But She’s Their Mother…
3 08 2007That’s what a social worker told a father when his mentally disturbed partner was released to see his children – unsupervised. The father warned Social Services. But he could have (and probably did) warn until he was blue in the face. Alas to no avail. His children were murdered by their mother and while she, the nut-bar, serves time for the manslaughter of her two children, his nightmare will continue.
Mother released from care to kill her children
Social Services assessed Vivian Gamor and found nothing wrong. Obviously there was a lot wrong, since she managed to bludgeon one of her kids to death and smother the other with cling film. To think of anyone dying in that way is terrible. To think of kids suffering this – words once again fail me. To think this happened at the hands of their parent… and that it could have been prevented.
To make matters worse, it seems that all the social service workers, who should have known better, seemed to be blinded by the haze of the “specialness of motherhood.” Or something.Their mother may be a crazed lunatic, but – she’s their Mother. And that’s why she should be allowed to see her kids. Unsupervised. In spite of the father’s repeated pleas that she was a real danger to their children. Well, he’s just their father. Or he was.
Excerpt:
“She had been previously been sectioned after claiming the children were not hers, that she was the son of God and Jesus was her twin. But Gamor was later released from care after doctors concluded she posed no risk to herself or others.
No risk??
“She was later allowed limited, supervised contact with her children but their father was worried about the prospect of unsupervised overnight stays.
“However, his attempts to stop her seeing the children were rebuffed and he was told he would not be allowed to come between them and their mother.
When he voiced concerns about the overnight stays to a social worker, she told him: “She is their mother.” After Gamor killed her children, tests showed she had not taken her prescribed anti-psychotic drugs for 10 days.
Poor guy, he didn’t have a chance. Take the kids away from their mother? Not on your life.
Certainly not on theirs.
And once again Social Services is “looking thoroughly at the involvement of all public agencies in this case.” Mealy-mouthed words. Shame on them. Two kids died – unnecessarily. Their father, despite all his efforts is going to suffer for the rest of his life thinking of how his kids died.
This is not the first horrific story of children suffering at the hands of their parents (crazy, off their meds or otherwise). It isn’t going to be the last either.
Many childed people like link being childfree with hating children - even though there is no evidence to link the two. When do they ever remember, or do they even know, that the greatest danger to children is not from some stranger. But from their parents or carers.
She is their mother, is she? Fat lot of good that did them. Being their mother does not entitle her to take their lives because she’s lost control over hers.
I can’t say it often enough – that some people just should not be parents.
And if by some sad chance they become parents their kids should be taken away – out of harms way.
Thanks to mercurior for sending me the link to this sad story.

I always wonder in cases like this — why would anyone breed with someone like that? How desperate do you have to be laid to have sex with someone like that, let alone create children with them? They both need to be sterilized to prevent further tragedies.
but then if the children are taken away and put into homes, which a lot are full of abusers and abused. it could cause the very thing that made their mother into the killer..
there is no easy answer..
Phoena, it is puzzling isn’t it? I work near an agency that provides services to parents with severe mental illnesses, many of whom also live on the streets. I always wonder as I drive by and see them out smoking in front of the facility, “how’d they get to be parents?” Maybe crazy attracts?
Merc, there is an easy answer…preparenting exams, developed and overseen by the childfree.
“…preparenting exams, developed and overseen by the childfree.” Nice idea, Feh. I’ll volunteer to invigilate the exam on the importance of good manners.
I am sorry but people like her should NOT be allowed to see any of their children EVER
No, they shouldn’t.
It’s possible that she wasn’t crazy until she had them.
You couldn’t pay me to be a social worker. Your primary purpose is to keep the family unit together, even though anyone with half a brain can see that there are so many family units that would be better off permanently apart. No matter what you do, it’s going to be the wrong thing for somebody, and you’re going to get your a$$ kicked for it. Talk about a no win. And until the bleeding hearts stop huffing and whining about the “sanctity of the family” this is never going to change.
It’s seriously about time that people realise that having kids is a privilege and not a right. nd the official line needs to be - you don’t do it properly, you screw up, you lose them. End of story. Have another one, and you’ll lose that too. Cut the mealy mouthed BS and do something to save these kids - I’m sure that society will be behind you all the way.
