Stretched Out Vayjay
Britgirl | August 6, 2007 | 12:15 amA real live example of a breeder. This woman is addicted to breeding. And she has no imagination when it comes to names.Jinger?? And with this many kids, you guessed right – it’s the kids who do most of the parenting. Has to be, right?
And she wants more! Well, no wonder when she’s won a couple of Mother Of the Year awards. Eck!
The comments are just hilarious – even though some are a little OTT. The one about the hairdo simply cracked me up.
But listen up all you childfree folks: if you’re feeling even the slightest bit of guilt about not jumping into the gene pool, fret no more – chances are this woman has had your child AND mine – already.
Personally I think she should have one more… everyone loves a round number. They ain’t on welfare either… but I bet they don’t pay much income tax thanks to all the child/dependent deductions. Go figure.
There are now 10 pages of comments and counting.
Obviously this has hit a nerve.

Last I heard they don’t pay taxes because they had their house declared a church.
I’m so sick of this family being portrayed as heartwarming and heroic. The reality is these idiots should both be sterilized.
According to reports, the babies are handed off to the older children once they hit 6 months. It isn’t their responsibility to care for them – how appallingly selfish to expect them to do so.
Has no one considered the health risks from banging out baby after baby? If something were to go wrong, 17 children would be left motherless.
What kind of example are they setting for their kids anyway? They’ll grow up thinking that women are nothing but walking wombs.
“According to reports, the babies are handed off to the older children once they hit 6 months.”
Not to mention, the girls are expected to clean, do laundry and cook. The boys do…well their boys in a fundie household, so nothing. The mother doesn’t really lift a finger except to breast feed for 6 months.
Ah, Jezebel http://jezebel.com/gossip/family-planning/-285645.php has many more comments for your viewing pleasure, including my personal favorite:
“Sweet Jesus, this woman’s uterus must look like Hamburger Helper.”
This family disgusts me.
Just plopping out babies, without a care in the world. And they are proclaimed as heroes! Pretty disgusting all round. I agree they really should be sterilized. If I were any of those daughters, it’d ensure I never had kids. But I fear they will follow the example of their breeder mother. Ugh!
I shall check out the jezebel comments…
I used to say that my grandma could cook for an army. I’m just glad she didn’t try to MAKE the army, like this woman evidently is trying to do. Then again, my g-ma had a whole heck of a lot more sense than what this Mrs. Duggar is displaying.
You’re right Britgirl, and I’ll have to mention what you said in my blog posting on this, as I want to share this with my friends and family. I don’t have to worry about contributing to society; families like this one more than make up for the childfree couples. Good for them! (But not the Earth!)

Chris – thank you – what a great title
. Yep, I’d say she’d putting rabbits to shame.
Carisa – It was hard to choose my personal favourite. But I thought the wood flume came pretty close…
After taking care of the younger ones perhaps some of the girls will realize their family is a a bit nutty and will escape the motherhood is sacred fate ahead of them. Maybe some will run off and join the circus. (Wait, that’s like home too!)
Also a thought that crossed my mind is how will they afford to send them all to college or university? But I doubt that’s in their plan — at least for the girls.
Christine… what university? It’ll be the university of homeschooling!
Homeschooled kids can and do get into university — there’s a process for them. But you’re right — I don’t see it in that family’s plan. Sad really. Just sad.
i always worry what actually is being taught in these homeschools, apparently they read a lot of the bible, the duggars in particular, but what if one of thie children is gay or childfree, or will they end up as being massive breeders themselves.
Quite a few home schooled kids are indeed fundmentalist Christians — most in fact I’d bet. But some are not. I can’t speak for other nations but I know in Canada each province has rules around home schooling and that most provinces have curriculum guidelines and tests etc. How these are enforced I have no idea!
I only know this because I met someone who was homeschooled I was quite curious. His family wasn’t religious but they were crunchy granola type people. Nice but a bit weird.
i think in some states its entirely optional, the testing of the children.
some of these relgious nutters, i worry slightly, what if the child is childfree but is forced /pressured, same with gays and lesbians.. at least normal school lets children generally see more that one view.
Oh dear dog!! I saw the TLC special about them building their house. Ick. Just wrong.
