Hello Childfree readers. I got this email today from another childfree blogger – Magenta - who is doing an exciting childfree documentary.
I am sharing it here to spread the word and support. (And by the way Magenta didn’t ask me to, I offered). Even if you’re not a childfree blogger
feel free to share, spread the word and/or support as you feel moved. As Magenta says it’s about time we had a positive film on happy childfree people with full lives who don’t regret not having kids. We’re out there and in far greater numbers than we’re given credit for. It’s clear the mainstream media will NOT be making positive documentaries about childfree people any time soon, and the mainstream establishments won’t help either so the only way that message of truth is going out there if if we put it out there ourselves.
Here’s Magenta’s note.
Start note:
“Hi fellow childfree blogger !
I’m a Canadian childfree documentary filmmaker from Montreal doing a positive documentary about childfree people in Canada and Europe.
I thought it was about time a positive film depicting happy childfree people who have full lives and who don’t regret not having had any kids (even those who made that choice and are now 70!) should hit the screens.
I also thought you might be able to share this with your members and spread the word
As you may guess, getting this “shocking” documentary financed is no easy feat. The different Canadian funding agencies don’t like this taboo subject and so I didn’t get any government grants. So I’ve started a crowfunding project to help me finance this film. I’ve already gathered close to $1,000 from people who believe such a film should be made and have purchased the DVD in advance. Unfortunately, that’s not enough. I’m trying to gather $5,000 for the film. (A very small budget, as I don’t expect to be paid, but want those working with me… and the very expensive editing suites.)
By buying it now for only $25, you can help me make this film! I’ll then send you the DVD once it’s completed (I’m hoping it’ll come out in the fall of 2011.)
You can also contribute more than $25 which would definitely make my day.
What you can also do… which is FREE is share this with everyone you know. Together, we can make this film happen!
Here is how you can contribute (and get more info about the project):
1) through http://www.indiegogo.com/mamannonmerci (campaign ends in 4 days!)
2) directly through Paypal through my French-language blog http://mamannonmerci.blogspot.com/ (click the Paypal link in the upper left corner)
3) by mail, just email me to get my snail mail address.
Together, we can try to change the world and how society perceives us
End note.
Please feel free to leave comments as well.
Cheers – Britgirl.
