Jeremy Clarkson prompts fierce debate on child-free flights – Telegraph

by Britgirl on May 20, 2013

Another great link, kudos to Jeremy for voicing what we’ve thought (or near enough) for so long. Screaming kids on a flight that’s cost many thousands of $$$ or £££, is just not on.
It looks like childfree flights are going to be the way sooner or later, or at least quiet spots. I still don’t understand why it’s ok for us to endure screams for hours on a flight.

So glad I found this website again. I was reading you a few years back (under another name), lost track of it all but was mighty pleased to see it’s still going :)

Like you, I sincerely hope that childfree flights or areas on flights happen soon. I’ve been on long haul flights with kids who never shut up, trying, screaming or otherwise. Then I’ve also been on flights where you’re stuck between a row with screaming kids and another row with loud drunk people who don’t know when to stop.

Even just quiet zones would be nice. South West Trains have instituted those on their trains. They’re mainly designed to stop people having loud phone conversations on carriages listed as “Quiet Zone” or play music for everyone else to listen to whether they want to or not. People who bring their buggies and screaming kids onto those carriages get some pretty curt advice. Some move on, others just ignore it. Unfortunately it’s not enforced by staff. That would be my only concern if flights had quiet zones – that someone would enforce it, rather than be scared of offending the oversensitive parents.

I still don’t understand why so many people are outrage by Clarkson’s comments. We all know he’s outspoken, and he’s finally saying something that so many people have thought for years. At some point even the parents critisizing him wanted to rip their faces off on a flight with someone else’s screaming kid.
